1) Learn to Calculate Your Calorie Intake!

Knowing how to calculate your calories is one of the most crucial points of slimming down.

How many calories must I kill/burn to lose 1 pound or 0.45kg?

There are about 3,501 calories in one pound of body fat. You should concentrate on cutting down 500 calories a day, which means (500 calories X 7 days = 3,500 calories/wk). The burning of calories can be done through exercise, diet or a combination of both.

How much calories are burnt in these activities?
Base on an average of 3 mile per hour:
Walking: 280 cal
Running: 700cal
Swimming: 500cal
Housework: 160cal
Aerobics: 450cal
(P.S. that is if you done it for a constant an hour! If you only running vigorously for 20 minutes? That’s only 233 calories killed!)

- Know how to read food labels
- Target your food calories intake!
- Try to take food that is lower in carbohydrate, low in calories and low in trans- fats.
- Well, unless you’re very dutiful doing your exercise regime daily! So you can work in combination. Or simply target your food calories intake!

2) Set Specific and Realistic Goals

- Strategize! Strategize! Strategize! Don’t simply say “I’m on a diet!” How about are you going to do it?

- Do not aim to lose 3kg a week or 8-10 kg a month with you not fulfilling the slimming regime.

- A more achievable target:
Lose 1kg/wk or 4kg/mth (with a strict eating & exercise plan)

3) Learn to Read the Labels

- Food label often says ‘Per Serving’ Calories 120, but frequently it’s ‘Serves 2 to 4’
(That’s 120calories X 4 = 480calories)
